What I have observed from my 6-week trip in 🇮🇳

My 6-weeks trip to India has come to the end. Whilst i’ve been here, i’ve been observing, like a true UX Practitioner.

Information sharing
Whatever information it maybe, Indian’s love to share the latest information they have found from the news outlet, social media or from their family or peers. This information can be anything health related to cooking food. For example, a common piece of information thats being shared amongst my family members is what immediate medication to take for when chest pain occurs/ or heart attack. The rest is history.

Advancements in Technology
I feel like the technology in India is somewhat relatively advanced compared to the UK. One invention that has caught my eyes is Paytm (aka Payment through mobile). Like Alipay, Paytm is a payments application that allows people to make payments from their phone. The user simply scans the QR code using the in app QR Scanner, enter your pin and voila, the payment is made. Not only you can pay for things in-store but also your bills, you can book your travels and much more. Paytm is your one stop for all financial solution. The reason for why I am hyping up this application is because it just works and I wish the UK had a similar payment solution. Although the UK has Apple and Google pay, its different because you cannot carry out all of these additional tasks on these payment services and its restricted to making payments only.

Nevertheless, heres where I felt Rajasthan, India (where I am currently staying) has lacked in the developments in technology. As India is vast country, this comes with a lot of businesses not having web presence / or a simple website. There is so much that can be done to bring in more revenue to the business and to improve the user experience.

Food, Food everywhere
With India being more westernised, there are more boujee restaurants. This does not have to be a bad thing, it means that I get to eat more variety food whilst I am in India.

Lastly, everyone is obsessed with mayonnaise, it is like a godly sauce that came from earth to India in the last 5 years.

The end…
