The Process
Problem Statement
Each year, people run into problems with their cars and either try fixing there own car, take it to their local garage or a sole mechanic. If the Garage has has no web presence then there is no clear indication as to whether the business is legitimate or not and provides the necessary car services. This is a problem for the garage because they may miss out on potential clients thus less revenue. This may be a problem for the customers because they would have to spend more time online trying to find a legitimate garage website that can solve their car needs.
5 WHY
Based on the Problem statement and why this situation exists/ or why would you choose a garage that has web presence than no web presence.
I present you the 5 WHY’S:
Why 1: To see if the website is genuine or not
Why 2: To read the reviews or testimonials and decide whether to fix the car at the local garage
Why 3: To know more about the website
Why 4: To know what services are provided
Why 5: To easily get the contact information and contact the local garage via the contact form or phone
User Interviews
I conducted eight semi-structured interviews with vehicle owners to understand their experiences of using a garage website. This is so that we understand these websites are being used.
The main approach I used to recruit participants was posting on social platforms such as Instagram and Reddit.
The interviews were conducted over Zoom and in person which lasted on average 35 minutes.
The interviews were transcribed verbatim for analysis. The interviews were was coded and analysed, to identify the similar and different themes across the datasets.
In summary, there was seven main findings:
User-Friendly Interface: Focusing on providing a seamless and intuitive user interface that allows customers to easily navigate the website, find relevant information, and complete desired actions.
Comprehensive Service Information: Ensuring that the website offers comprehensive information about the range of services provided, including detailed descriptions, service packages, and any special offers or discounts available.
Online Reviews and Testimonials: Incorporating customer reviews and testimonials on the website, allowing prospective customers to read about the experiences of others and build trust in the garage's services.
Mobile Optimization: Ensuring that the website is fully optimized for mobile devices, offering a responsive design that enables customers to access and navigate the site seamlessly from their smartphones or tablets.
Integration with Social Media: Integrating social media platforms into the website, allowing customers to share their experiences, leave feedback, or interact with the garage's social media accounts directly from the website.
Accessibility: Ensuring that the website is accessible to individuals with disabilities, adhering to web accessibility standards, and providing options for adjustable font sizes, text-to-speech functionality, or alternative navigation methods.
Community Engagement: Facilitating community engagement by incorporating features such as discussion forums, online communities, or customer feedback forums, where customers can interact with each other and the garage staff, sharing insights and experiences.
Competitor Analysis
A competitor analysis was carried out to understand what works, avoid what doesn’t, and identify gaps to gain a competitive advantage. I started off comparing different elements of the website, evaluate the website against the heuristics, finding out whats similar between the websites, what we have learnt and put together seven requirements for the creation of the website.
Personas
I created two user personas based on the interviews and competitors analysis on to understand who might be the potential users using C4 Car Repairs & Tyres and who it might be designed for. I would say that these are real representation of who might be using C4 Car Repairs & Tyres.
The two personas include: (1) Professional, (2) Heavy user (Taxi Driver)
Sketches
Based on the previous work, I sketched out 4 wireframes for each of the pages. This was because its a quick and dirty method to get designs fast without having to spend many hours trying to use Figma first than trying to make the perfect design.
Information Architecture
Information Architecture was created to get a better understanding of how the web pages are interlinked. Also, it would help us for when designing the wireframes in the sense that we would be able to track which designs have been made and which have not been designed. The Information architecture was created after the HI-FI Designs were made because it illistrates clearly which pages belong to which.
Hi-Fi Prototypes
Before trying to create website on framer, the Hi-fi prototypes were designed in Figma for the following reasons. (1) I do not have to spend countless hours trying to figure out how to design a certain webpage. (2) To quickly iterate on the designs. (3) I can refer to the Hi-fi designs in Figma for when creating the website in Framer.
User Testing on Hi- Fi Prototypes
User testing has been carried out with five users. The aim is to test all of the functionalities of the C4 Car Repairs and Tyres to see what other changes can be made to the website. For example, whether the user can contact the garage
My main role in the user testing would be to oversee how the testing would be carried out.
After completing the user testing, I have analysed the data and identified several findings to improve the C4 Car Repairs and Tyres marketplace.
There were three overarching main changes to the C4 Car Repairs and Tyres . These include the following:
Improvement of Navigation
More digital content
Consistency of different size

Reflection
This was my first official gig for a client and although it was not a difficult project to complete, there was a lot of sub-tasks to complete for this project.
It is ok to be simple, as long the user knows where to go on the site then it is fine.
